Begin with a special Philosophers Pub on “The World of Mushrooms with Bernie Carr – VP Northeast Mycological Federation.” Learn why mushrooms are so important to our world. Saturday,following breakfast paddle secluded Lake Clear or meander our 18,000 acre natural spa known as New York State's only wilderness canoe region.Sunday,immerse yourself in a cooking class using mushrooms not only for the vegetarian but the hearty meat lover.

An engaging discussion with pictures on the making of our trails: their history and their future. How we have historically maintained our trails may not be the way we can operate them in the future. How were they
created, what is their current condition and what may be unique ways we can continue their care in the future? Join us for an interesting perspective on the future of our trail systems.

September 28th – 30th Adirondack Harvest Octoberfest Old World Culinary Weekend
Highlights: Buy local then What? As the locovore movement increases in popularity, there is often a common perception that buying local foods is the end-all be-all. How to prepare those local foods and enhance their special properties is often lost. Often, the value and health benefits of local foods are ruined by using processed cooking mentality. This special dinner and discussion series will explore how preparing local food can be quite different from frozen processed foods.
Friday, October 5th – 7PM Philosophers Pub
What feathered friends will they bring with them to touch and see - a pedigree falcon? A horned owl? Join ornithologist Brian McAllister and his friends for a hands-on and informal pub discussion. Fall is migratory
season for many birds. Learn the why and where of these birds in flight. Participate in a

Close encounters: has their relationship with man changed? Join us for a special Adirondack Harvest Oktoberfest weekend with cooking demos, specialty foods and beer and wine tastings.
October 12th – 14th Old World Cooking Weekend
What is old world cooking? What are its culinary roots, where is it today
and what is its future? An engaging discussion with Executive Chef Cathy Hohmeyer, whose postgraduate work has created a copyrighted approach to cooking entitled “culinary naturopathy.”
Friday, October 12th – 7PM: Philosopher’s Pub
“The World of Adirondack Hunting: Tips from an Adirondack Guide"
Meet Joe Hackett, author, newspaper columnist and sage Adirondack guide. A spirited pub discussion on tips and lessons learned in hunting the Adirondack wild. Mr. Hackett is a leading voice on the state of our outdoor recreation and what the future may hold.
October 19th – 7PM: Philosopher’s Pub
“The Changing Nature of Tourism.”
As our rural economy has struggled will our communities meet the same fate as some other mountain resorts and slowly fade away? What
will be the impact of global warming on our snow dependent winter tourism? Should our communities and businesses begin to think in new ways? Join Ernest Hohmeyer, a presidential award-winning and 25 year veteran of sustainable development issues in the Adirondacks.
October 26th – 28th Creating a New Holiday Season Wellness
